Hey guys! How’s it going? Recently I’ve been watched ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ a lot; three times already to be exact haha!! It has been the longest time since my last movie review, so, I thought a review on the movie would be perfect for today’s post!
.
I have actually wanted to go see ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ ever since I heard a movie was made about Queen. I was about to go see the movie in theatres, but, at the time there were already so many good movies out! I had heard a lot of good reviews about ‘A Star is Born’ so, when I went to the theatres I decided to see that instead, so I, unfortunately, did not get the chance to see ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in theatres. I thought I would have had to wait all the way to the release date, but, it was actually premiering early in my hotel in Miami! As soon as I found that out, I screamed (with joy), quite literally (and to anyone who doesn’t believe me, DM my brother on Instagram hahaha). Anyways, my brother and I ended up watching the movie three times and here are my thoughts on it!
.
.
To start off the I think Rami Malek makes the perfect Freddie Mercury. His moves on stage and everything else was so believable. He helped tell an incredible story for a movie that will become a classic! From the very second the movie started I knew I was going to love it. To see the crowd of the live aid concert in the intro just hypes you up before even watching the movie! I also love the set and how everything looked, I obviously know it was in the ’70-’80s but I mean everything was so pleasant looking/aesthetically pleasing.
.
The coordination with the music and the editing was also on point. In some parts of the movie I just wanted to stand up and dance (and I don’t dance haha). No, but truly, every part of the movie was exciting and the soundtrack was on point!! I recommend going to see it in theatres while it is still there if you haven’t already as nothing is better than this soundtrack with full on good quality speakers. It also feels more like a concert during the stage scenes, I had the same feeling with ‘A Star is Born’ (p.s. link to my review about that HERE)! Going back to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and their amazing soundtrack, I wanted to say that my favorite songs from the movie were “Don’t Stop Me Now” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”! These are my two favorite Queen songs either way but I loved how the movie did them too!!
.
.
I didn’t even have to get to half of the movie to realize that this movie was going to win awards and I wasn’t wrong… It recently won a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture in a Drama (link to my post HERE about the best dressed at this year’s award show and my thoughts on the results). I can’t wait to know the nominees for the next shows to come as well! They totally deserved their Golden Globe! Let’s see what the Oscars say!
.
I’m also truly glad there are more and more LGBTQ+ movies coming out every year and this one is a beautiful new one to add to the list. Freddie’s story was beautifully told. But, not only his. Each band member had a beautiful story to tell and you get to discover how risk-taking they were as a whole band. You can really see how revolutionary they were and how it changed today’s music industry.

I don’t want to be obvious but one of my favorite scenes was the live aid concert. I enjoyed the fact that it was long; we truly got to enjoy it as if we were there. You can feel the whole crowd and the songs are insane, it’s just so good! It was truly emotionally powerful. It makes you wish you were born earlier and you could be there (well for me at least). I almost cried in that scene, I didn’t, but I really almost did haha. Another one of my favorite scenes was when he announced he had aids to the band and lastly his coming out to Mary. These scenes were so emotional yet brilliantly told! The movie was everything I wanted it to be and more.
.
Quickly before finishing off the post, I really want to mention that I really liked Allen Leech in this movie (who plays Mercury’s lover) that I had recognized from Downton Abbey. Ben Hardy was great as Roger too. I also really enjoyed Gwilym Lee as Brian May and finally Lucy Boynton as Mary Austin. The whole cast was great but these specific actors really made the movie what it is (for me), as well as Rami Malek (Freddie Mercury) of course.
.
.
I give this movie a 9/10. It was just under ‘A Star is Born’ for me, but, it was the best way for me to start 2019. I would recommend it to anyone! It really makes you understand how music developed into being the way it is today. It’s fascinating, whether you like music or not. It’s just so powerful!! The movie makes you understand how big of a loss everyone felt when Freddie passed (not to finish the post on a too depressed note haha)!
.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and have a great start to your week!

Lot’s of LOVE, as always,

The Bohemian Rhapsody Biopic Movie was worth the wait. I originally heard of the movie in 2009 and it only finished in 2018.
Great Casting, Great cinematography, and it is no wonder it won do many awards like the oscars, Bafta’s and Golden Globes.
Wonderful – gives me goosebumps when I watch it. Especially the Live Aid scenes.
I’ve watched Bohemian Rhapsody 8 times in theatres & was beyond happy when both Rami Malek and Bohemian Rhapsody won a Golden Globe Award! They truly deserved that award, that movie is probably the best movie I’ve ever seen! Especially since I love Queen so much, I was so happy when I found out they were releasing a movie about this amazing band & the life story of Freddie Mercury. Rami did an outstanding job interpreting Freddie Mercury, like seriously when I hear a Queen song come up I now think of Rami Malek. It’s crazy! Rami and the whole cast did a phenomenal job, & I really want to meet them so badly and of course the icons that started it all Brian May & Rodger Taylor. I love this movie so much and can’t wait for the Oscars going to throw another Queen party rooting for Rami Malek and Bohemian Rhapsody to win! Plus can’t wait for the DVD movie to be released on February 12, going to snatch that really quick! I love Bohemian Rhapsody & Queen!
I feel the same way, Sierra! I’ve seen the movie so many times by now haha. Have a great day! x
Hello everybody! So I loved Bohemian Rapsody much better than the Star is Born. Rami is not Freddie of course , so Rami does’nt have to be 100% alike with Mercury. But Rami did a good job. I can’t imagine anyone who could play him as good as Rami did. So I respect him. And the movie was made about Queen and BY Queen, live legends took a huge part in making it. I just can’t stop listening to their music now) I cried watching some moments. I give 10/10 rate to BR.
I watched this film last night and I really enjoyed it too! Great post !
