Hey guys! How’s it going? For today’s post, I really wanted to share my ranking of most of the awards nominated movies this season, since I haven’t posted reviews for each film. I will be ranking 14 movies (including animations) which were nominated/winners of all the most talked about awards in the industry.
.
It was honestly so hard for me to rank all these movies since they were all incredibly unique in their very own way! But, after a lot of thinking, here is my personal ranking of this year’s nominated movies! I’m going to start from my least favorites all the way to be absolute favs! My bottom picks aren’t actually movies I didn’t like they’re just not my favs. Also, if you’ve been reading my posts for a while I’m sure you can already guess what some of my top choices will be hehe!!
.
Since we are ranking movies, one has to be at the bottom. ‘Roma’ kept me entertained pretty much throughout the whole movie, even though there isn’t a plot. I’ve never seen anything like it and I wouldn’t necessarily watch it again but I’m truly glad I did. ‘Roma’ won countless awards, from a Golden Globe for the best motion picture in a foreign language film, BAFTA for the best film and a lot, lot, lot of other prizes! I believe it is the most nominated movie on this list. Even though it is my least favorite, I still have so much respect for this film as it was super new and interesting! It really just wasn’t something for me. When I like a movie I watch it a thousand times and when I saw this one I really didn’t feel the need to rewatch it.
.
Onto another good movie of 2018! I actually really enjoyed ‘A Quiet Place’. The main scary thing with scary movies is the sound. Yet, this movie doesn’t include a single sound. It’s very well directed and again, super original. It won the Critic Choice Award for best sci-fi/horror motion picture. I’m honestly really glad it did! It was one of my favorite horror movies of the year by far and my friend and I both really enjoyed watching it in theaters! This movie was so low ranking for me just because it’s not necessarily something I would rewatch but I still really enjoyed it!
.
This movie had not the most entertaining plot, but I still enjoyed it a lot from the beginning all the way until the end. It’s an emotional story about family and addiction. The acting is great from everyone but especially Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges!!! ‘Ben is Back’ got nominated for best independent film at the LAOFCS Awards. I’m happy they got these awards because it was a very touching and important film! Just again, not a movie that was so so amazing that I would re-watch it!
.
Now onto the film that won Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival! I actually saw this movie very recently as it was available on the TV in my hotel room! It’s (once again) an emotional story about family. Beautifully made and the plot is great as well! I’m not disappointed that it won Palme d’Or. A very touching story that moved me greatly!
.
I remember loving the first movie of this series when it came out! Is it as good as the first one? I’m not entirely sure, but it certainly gave me more than what I was expecting! ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ is nominated for best animated feature at the Academy Awards. I love going back to my childhood with these kinds of movies!!
.
Next up is ‘BlackKklansman’! Spike Lee directed this movie incredibly well. The cast is excellent and the story is powerful, to say the least. It also won the Satellite Award for the best motion picture! I loved this film. I 10/10 recommend it! .
Finally, a movie a bit happier! I absolutely loved this film! From the beautiful and when I say beautiful, I mean insanely beautiful costumes (that it also won an award for) to the amazing decors; this film was brilliant! I’ve said it before but I will keep saying it, it is so refreshing to see so much more diversity in the movies, but it’s still not enough! Anyways, I’m so happy to see Hollywood break the stereotypes in this film. Going back to the movie it’s truly is a must-watch! ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ also won Critics Choice Award for best comedy, it truly was hilarious so it totally deserved this award. I cried from laughter at some points and was also just the right amount dramatic!
.
‘Green Book’ got 16 major nominations and won 5 awards! It’s nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards. I would thoroughly recommend this movie! It’s a great story about friendship and the ’60s. The smile never came off my face when watching this movie and I was never bored! This film for sure deserved its nominations!
.
I’ve waited soo long for this movie to come out! I actually don’t think I’ve ever waited for a film to come out longer than for ‘Incredibles 2’! But oh my was it worth the wait. It was packed with hilarious scenes and more fun than ever with the Parr family! I would recommend it to anyone any age, seriously. The ‘Incredibles 2’ got nominated for best-animated feature at the Academy Awards and I honestly wouldn’t be disappointed at all if it wins.
.
Wow. Honestly, just wow. Wow, wow, wow and once again wow. I was so blown away by the visuals of this movie! I have never seen any animations alike ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’. I personally love animations, but it’s still very hard to rank them with so-called “real” movies. But this one truly deserves its place at fifth place on my list! Please just go do yourself a favor and go watch it (even my mom loved it)! You can expect a full review of it from me very soon! Even if you’re not a fan of animations or action-packed movies like this one, this movie will still be worth it I promise!
.
Chalamet truly did it again. His acting in the movie was better than in ‘Call Me by Your Name’, which says a lot about it! Carrel and he have great chemistry and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this father-son touching story with non-other than my dad! I can’t wait to watch it again once it’s out to download! Click HERE to check out my full review about it. ‘Beautiful Boy’ got nominated for best film at the San Sebastían International Film Festival and got Timothée a number of nominations and awards! It was one of the most touching movies I have ever watched!
.
Now onto the top 3! ‘Black Panther’ has to be one of my favorite Marvel movies ever. It also made a total of 1 billion dollars, yes, you heard me and countless awards and nominations! The plot, CGI, the costumes… everything was absolutely on point for me. As well as the incredible soundtrack! If you like superheroes/action movies, this one is for you!
.
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ truly blew my mind. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was, at all. The soundtrack is obviously unreal and Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury is simply astonishing! I also loved when I found out that Roger Taylor and Brian May also Co-produced the movie, which makes it even more real and better! You can check out my full review about it HERE! This was such an amazing film, I can’t stress it enough!
.
Finally, ‘A Star is Born’. Everyone already knew Lady Gaga was a star but she really was reborn as an actress in this masterpiece! Her performance and Bradley’s were absolutely astonishing! Cooper also did a wonderful job at directing it and I wish he would’ve got more credit for it. The soundtrack has to be one of my favorites out of all the movies that came out in the past year, for sure! You can check out my full review about it HERE! This movie deserved its number 1 place because I’ve seen it more times than I can count and I know it sounds cheesy but this movie touched me so much and really affected me in an amazing way!
.
.
That’s it for today’s post! I hope you enjoyed it and that you’re gonna go binge watch a couple of these movies! Let me know how you would rank these movies! Once again I loved every single one of these films and they all deserved their awards!! This really was a good year in the movie-making industry!
.
Let me know what your favorite/s is/are!

Lot’s of LOVE, as always,
