Hey guys! I hope you are all doing well! Ever since the second remake of Stephen King’s novel; ‘It’ was announced I’ve been highly anticipated its release. Not only was I super excited to get to see more of the Losers Club and Pennywise in yet another chapter but I was also excited because it was directed by Andrés Muschcietti! I got tickets to go see the film in theaters as soon as I arrived in LA and I wanted to give you all my thoughts about it!
As always, you should have no worries as this post is entirely spoiler-free!
The first thing that popped in my mind, and I couldn’t stop thinking about throughout the movie was how well the cast was picked! They really did an excellent job at picking the adult version of each kid. I especially like Bill Hader as he uplifted every scene he was in and made ‘It: Chapter Two’ funny! I thought this movie was much funnier than the previous chapter in general and also slightly less scary, although it still very much kept that creepy vibe haha. There were a lot of great and hilarious scenes and some scary scenes, but I feel like they could have done a lot better overall with the crazy movie-length they had. I really felt the time passing while watching it and talking of ‘It’ (haha get it), I also thought Bill Skarsgard didn’t get enough screen time in this one! But it was a lot of fun seeing him being mainly out of his ‘original’ form. And no matter what, it was still a lot of fun to see Derry 27 years later!
About halfway through the film, there’s a cameo in a vintage store, and I love that they did that. It added an extra little touch to the movie, and it always gives credit to the people who are initially behind the story! I personally find it so much fun to spot, and I think they should do it more often! But going back to the film, I have heard a lot of people say that they considered each character spent too much time on their own, which I completely agree with but a lot of scarier scenes happened then. I just hoped they would have put more scenes with them together like chapter one, they felt a little bit less like a team here.
Although there were a lot of things that I thought could’ve been better (or better explained) I still enjoyed this movie a lot! It was one of my most apprehended movies of 2019, and I’m not disappointed. I’m certainly not as excited to re-watch as I was with the first one, but I’ll probably watch chapter 2 again for Halloween haha. I recommend watching it if you are a fan of horror movies like me haha or if you’ve seen ’It’ and liked it! I give this movie a 6.5/10 as it was a fun time at the theater but could’ve been better.
I also quickly wanted to add that I’m also not a big fan of the reason they gave at the end for what Stanley did, it seemed pointless, in my opinion.
Either way, that’s it for today’s post let me know if you’ve seen ’It: Chapter Two’ or are thinking about going to see it! If you have: who was your favorite character? Mine would have to be Ritchie because he brought so much to the film!
Lots of LOVE, as always,
I thought that the actors were very well picked as well!
