Ultra Festival Miami Experience + Lookbook and Festival Essentials

Hey guys! How’s it going? I recently came back from a crazy couple of days with my brother and a couple of friends at the Ultra festival here in Miami! It was a lot of fun and I probably won’t ever forget this weekend! But quickly before I get onto how everything went down let me just say that I don’t believe I would have ever attended this festival if my brother didn’t ask me to come with him haha. I have done a couple festivals by now (Osheaga in Canada, Tomorrowland in Belgium and Coachella in California) and they were all super fun! But, I had never thought of going to Ultra! I’m so happy I did though! Quickly before getting into the post let me tell you, I overall enjoyed Coachella more (the food is better and the artists and the songs are overall much more my style). Now let’s get on to the post.
.
Ultra is an electronic festival (like Tomorrowland) which is a lot of fun, but I wouldn’t stay a whole day (unlike other festivals)! We decided to go for around 4 hours every night since that’s when the artists we all overall liked the most were performing. On the first day, we noticed that the organization was the worst we had ever seen at a festival. There were at least two hours at traffic to arrive on site and there were no real entries so people were coming from everywhere, as well as walking miles and miles (to avoid the horrible traffic) to get there. That was BY FAR the worst aspect of the festival and the fact that it was oversold (I believe so and so do the people I’ve talked to). But we still managed to have a great time! Now onto the crazy things that happened to us during the Ultra weekend and the outfits I wore for the festival!
.
On Friday we went to meet our friends at their hotels prior to going (funnily enough on the 36th floor). We started talking about the tickets and how we were going to use our tickets to go to the Will Call to get a taxi but our friends couldn’t find theirs. They were still looking for their tickets when randomly the fire alarm rang. I was on the balcony when the alarm rang and so I left with all my friends as soon as we heard it. I was way in front of all my friends with my brother’s girlfriend when we were getting out of the hotel and we saw a man in his mid-40s sitting in the corner in the hall. He asked me why I was heading downstairs (while the alarm was ringing) and then all of a sudden another man ran out of the room shirtless with his baby in a diaper in his hand. I was so confused by everything that was going on I just headed downstairs, 36 floors, while the alarm said that a fire had been identified. As soon as we made it downstairs everyone told us that someone had just pulled the alarm as a “joke”. So we waited for our friends and headed back up. This is going to sound made up but I swear it isn’t (and yes I realize that’s what everyone says) but the guy who pulled the alarm trigger took the same elevator as us to go up and it was the guy who asked me why I was going down! He was with two security men and looked literally on another planet.
.
After that insane incident, we headed to the will call at the American Airlines Arena (after everyone was able to get find tickets). As soon as we got our wristbands we headed to take two cabs and headed to Ultra! We went to a couple of stages but we mainly stayed at Alesso’s (at the main stage). The music was really fun and the food was good as well! I can’t tell you how many lemonades I ordered haha. It was crowded and pretty cold, but because of all the people and all the walking, we were actually pretty warm!

Now onto my look for this day… For the first day at the festival, I wore a Victoria’s Secret nude/rose-gold playsuit that I matched with my high-rise black Converse that is perfect for muddy festivals! I wore my small transparent and pastel pink backpack from Adidas with it and the bandana attached to it is from Urban Outfitters (and again perfect for festivals and available in almost every color)! To add a little more to the outfit I added a heart shaped very western-like belt that I bought on Farfetch (from Saint Laurent) as well as black sparkly sunglasses from Saint Laurent. I wasn’t sure how the temperature was going to be so I played it safe with a (Harley Davidson vintage) jean jacket (that I can always tie around my waist!).
.
On day two, Vivienne (my brother’s girlfriend), my mom and I decided to go for a haircut. I cut quite a lot of it off and I’ve actually never had my hair this “short” in my entire life, but it was time for a change in my opinion! Either way, we went to the IGK salon and Vivienne and I actually ended up both doing braids. She went for two subtle (but super cute) braids with blue and pink glitter. I went for two braids with two space buns with the same glitter! I have always wanted to do space buns but never dared since they don’t look as good when I do them myself obviously haha. IGK did an amazing job and we all had such a fun time there!

After the salon, we headed back to the hotel to get ready! I wore a white tank top from Urban Outfitters with a transparent shirt from Victoria’s Secret and denim shorts from Levi’s. I matched it again with my Adidas bag (and put the black bandana on my shorts instead) and with my black Converse as well as Saint Laurent sunglasses (and Ray-Ban’s for the small shooting.
.
Like I previously mentioned in this post we did not actually attend on the second day since there was so much traffic. We arrived at around 9:30pm and were supposed to get out of the car but a police officer (there were officers every 15 meters) told us to go down and the only way back was two (and counting) hours long. Our friends and I stayed around four hours every day and we knew (with the traffic) we wouldn’t get there until at least 12:30 at night. Meaning we wouldn’t be able to stay longer and would have to do a hugeee queue to go back home with all the people leaving the festival for a very short time there. We were late but we never thought there would be THAT much traffic, but the one thing that made that happen is that we couldn’t get out of the car when we were at the ‘entrance’ and had to go the whole way around. Which is not that bad since we were all absolutely exhausted from a full day under the sun! Vivienne and I still decided to sleep with the hairstyles to take pictures at the festival with them the next day!
.
On day 3 we went and stayed from 9 until 12 and it was the most fun day by far! We began with eating (we went to something super unhealthy again obviously since that’s all there is to eat haha), we all went for hot dogs! Right after that, we headed to the Resistance Island where we stayed for the most part and then headed to the main stage for David Guetta! We didn’t make it for the beginning since there’s a 45 Minutes walk from those two stages! But again, the mixing was so good and he used all of my recent and (all-time) favorites!

For the last day, I decided to wear glittery shorts from Saint Laurent with a light white top from Dior. I matched it with the same transparent top from Victoria’s Secret as the previous day for the little extra coverage when it gets cold! I wore my black sparkly pair of sunglasses (from Saint Laurent) with it and I also added the only backpack (n’01 festival essential) I brought to the US (I actually didn’t even have one with me and had to buy it here haha). I also wore with this look, the comfiest shoes (in my opinion), converse (like every day here) and finally, to top the look off my glittery hair to add even more details haha.
.
Ultra was overall fun but I think day parties are more worth-it and overall way cheaper as well! I got general admission and it was almost 500$ per person which is just crazy for the unorganized crowded event it was. I still had a great time and I definitely don’t regret going at all!
.
Now quickly before finishing the post, I want to share some of the absolute essentials that I have with me for EVERY festival! Since a lot of you guys are going to attend spring break festival/parties here is ZimmyLifestyle’s guide to them!

I will post a full “what to wear to festivals” post but knowing what to bring is an essential as well! If you have never been to a festival there are few restricted items so always make sure to check that you don’t have those before heading to the festival. I don’t bring a ton of stuff with me but I definitely recommend bringing a small backpack (especially to avoid carrying water bottles in your hands during the whole festival). ‘Dumb’ things like a hair tie or lip balm can really save your life when you genuinely need it at a festival so don’t forget to add those! What I’m trying to say is that you really shouldn’t stress too much about what to bring you should just think of the things you need every day! I really don’t recommend bringing anything heavy because like I said there is a lot, and I mean a LOT of walking! I would really just take a portable charger, your phone, a hairband, lip balm, money, and your ID! That’s it! Don’t take a water bottle you can buy there and I really don’t recommend taking a camera because it’s super heavy and you can just take pictures on your phone! If anything you should get a disposable camera! They are so light and practical and the photos are super cool! Lastly, I just want to say that if you’re planning to go to a festival please make a meeting point with your friends or whoever you’re going within case you get lost! Festivals can be super overwhelming and scary with that many people so make sure to always have your phone charged in case you need to contact someone!

.
Either way, that’s it for today’s post! Let me know if you’re heading to any festivals this season! Have you ever heard of Ultra the Electronic festival? Let me know!

Lot’s of LOVE, as always,
