MY TIME AT THE 2019 AMA’s (RED CARPET, CEREMONY & AFTER PARTY) + BEST DRESSED ATTENDEES

Hey guys! I hope you’re having a good day/evening wherever you are! For today’s post, (if you’ve seen by my many Instagram stories about it), I’m going to share my experience at the 47th annual American Music Awards that I attended with my dad! I have had truly the most wonderful time there, and I thought I would run it down for you guys (as usual)! So many things happened that I have to tell you guys about! I also thought I would include my absolute favorite red carpet outfits as well, instead of dedicating a whole post to them, so you have everything about the AMAs included in one post. Alright, let’s head into it, shall we?

Starting off at the beginning of the day, I took off from London landing 10 hours later in LAX, where I took a car and headed straight to the event! I quickly did my hair into a tight yet pretty messy ‘half-up’ ponytail. As for the makeup (that I thoroughly did in LA traffic), I kept with my usual pretty neutral tones using Anastasia Beverly Hills’ ‘Soft Glam’ eyeshadow palette! Then I changed into my outfit (photoshoot style in the back of a car with a blanket over me, haha). I wore Saint Laurent shorts and a sparkling jacket (which was the main item of the look). To match the shorts, I wore a black vinyl crop top from l’Academie with a small glittery silver bag from Chanel and black shoes from Jimmy Choo. While I was heading to the event, my dad picked up the tickets at the reception, and we then met up at the red carpet entrance at the Microsoft Theater!

As you can probably guess, we arrived close to the end of the red carpet part of the event, taking into consideration I landed an hour and a half before! Gladly we arrived early enough to still enjoy the rush hour and all the main arrivals. I spotted pretty outfits after insane outfits, each one better than the previous as A-listers made their way onto the carpet! I got to see Billie Eilish multiple times, which was truly unreal since she’s been a role model for me since she released her single ‘Ocean Eyes’ back in 2015. I was also beyond excited to see her perform for the first time at an awards show! I also spotted AMAs Artist of the decade, miss Taylor Swift, she was wearing a stunning green open-leg gown and was walking with rapper, Lil Nas X who was also completely in the green color scheme! Carrie Underwood also made a big entrance with her magnificent purple shiny gown. Halsey’s dress was also one of my favorites on the carpet, and she made more than one head turn! I love the off-the-shoulder ample and colorful look she went for, and it is by far one of my favorites of the night. After taking a couple of pictures with my dad and of my look, we were about to head inside as the ceremony was right about to start when Post Malone arrived in his matching set and hat! He was the most down to earth guy and started having small conversations with everybody around him! Right after the event, I even noticed AMA’s posted a video of myself shortly speaking and taking a picture with him, which was the nicest post-party surprise!

Moments after going in and passing security, we had to get to our seats as the show had 5 minutes until air! We were in row one, which I still cannot get over. Straight away, Selena Gomez started the night with her new hit single, ‘Look at Her Now’! She did the most wonderful performance, and I couldn’t have been happier the show started with it! Right after that surreal moment, Halsey won for best Pop/Rock song with ‘Without Me,’ where she did her ‘controversial’ no filter speech.

Then Lizzo arrived and made the stage on fire with her song ‘Jerome’ from her album ‘Cuz I Love You.’ Her stage presence was absolutely unreal, and it was truly the perfect song choice! Leaving the crowd a bit of time to recover with short commercial breaks, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes performed their single ‘Señorita’ (which stayed number one in the charts for five weeks)! Shortly after that, Heidi Klum and Dan Levy came to announce the best Pop/Rock Album, which went to Taylor Swift for ‘Lover.’

Soon after, Kesha performed ‘Raising Hell’ and ‘Tik Tok,’ which was a huge throwback that I didn’t except! Billie Eilish then arrived with her brother Finneas (for their first-ever award show performance), which, as you can probably imagine, was one of the many highlights of my night. Then the Jonas Brothers were broadcasted live from their concert in Boston to perform ‘Only Human’!

Moments later, Cabello and Mendes won for collaboration of the year, which I couldn’t have been happier about. Directly after Jameela Jamil and Taran Kilam took to the stage to announce new artists of the year, which went to Billie Eilish (who had already won the Best Alternative/Rock artists earlier in the night)! As the breaks were happening, each artist was passing by me to get back into the crowd after being on stage, which made being in the first row even more incredible!

As Post Malone was winning, best Rap/Hip-Hop album servers were handing out red velvet cupcakes from ‘Sprinkles’ which is my favorite store in Los Angeles! Regina King then took on the stage to present the artist of the decade, Taylor Swift! She then went on to perform some of the most memorable songs of her career, as well as her famous hit ‘Shake it Off,’ with Camila Cabello and Halsey! As the next break went on, Selena Gomez and Will.i.am. I had a conversation for a good five minutes quite literally at the armrest of my chair, haha. As soon as the show went back on air Post-Malone performed one of my favorite songs of his, ‘Circles’ as well as  ‘Take What You Want’! Dua Lipa then took to the stage moments later to perform her new single ‘Don’t Start Now.’

After a short break, Taylor Swift won for artist of the year (which was her sixth award of the night)! Shania Twain then made a comeback by putting the stage on fire and wrapping up the show in the most wonderful way performing all our favorite hits! She performed as millions of pink confetti fell from the sky all over the massive theater, it was a dream!

My dad and I then headed to the official after-party, which was right next door at the Marriott hotel. We arrived in a huge lobby where everyone was looking for the party, and as soon as we arrived in it, we weren’t disappointed! There were fun video booths with cameramen to make short films with you as well as the biggest buffet you could dream of was being set up! We arrived at the same time as Patrick Starr, who was seated next to us during the ceremony. We stayed around two hours talking and having a good time with my dad before we decided to head out (since we both flew in on the same day).

It was by far the most mesmerizing award show I attended, even next to the Grammy’s. Each of the performances was absolutely insane, and none resembled the next! I’m beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to attend such an event, and it’s truly one of those I won’t ever forget. It was also incredibly refreshing to be back in the warm Californian weather for a couple days and be with my dad.

But before I finish up with today’s post (as I mentioned in the intro), the outfits on the red carpet were absolutely surreal, and it would be a mistake not to share them! So, let’s get into the outfits.

1. Ciara in Georges Hobeika
Starting off with Ciara, the evening’s host. She wore a stunning studded warm nude bodysuit. I absolutely adore it as it’s stunning, but it’s also very unique!

2. Selena Gomez in Versace
If you have read my previous post (about night outfits), you should know that neon colors (and green in particular) are back in trend, and I couldn’t be happier about it! Selena rocked this matching shoe and dress combo, and I love the necklace that was added for extra sparkle!

3. Halsey in Marc Jacobs
Halsey wore a beautiful sheer colorful gown with a bodysuit underneath and bright makeup to match the outfit! Again, really original and artsy! I love this new look.

4. Heidi Klum in Monsoori
Now let’s talk about Klum, who wore a stunning Monsoori short feather dress. I love the hairstyle she went with as well the vast 70’s vibes she’s giving out!

5. Maya Hawke in Dior
Moving on to Stranger Things’ actress, miss Maya Hawke, although the gown is definitely simpler than others, it’s one of the classiest looks, in my opinion. I love the headband she added, it seems to be her signature look (as she almost wears them on each carpet), but it always looks really stunning!

6. Post Malone (brand unknown)
And last but not least, I had to mention post, which was wearing a beautiful matching set with the coolest hat! I can’t find where it was from, but it was so effortlessly cool.

Let me know down in the comments which look was your favorite. Also, which performance did you like the most/who are you the gladdest won?

Lots of LOVE, as always,
