LITERALLY HEAVEN – MY EXPERIENCE ATTENDING THE 61ST ANNUAL GRAMMYS

Hey guys! How’s it going? I just quickly wanted to say, before diving into the post that I’m sorry I haven’t been as active on ZimmyLifestyle in the past week. But, as I always say, I would rather post strong content that I’m sure you guys will like and that I’m proud of than a useless post! Quality over quantity always, am I right? So anyways I’m back, even though I never left haha!
.
Now onto my experience at the 61st annual Grammys! For those of you that don’t know the Grammys, it is basically this insane awards show about music. Awards like the best new artist and best new song are given to the best artists in the world. I got the amazing opportunity to attend the show with my brother! We have already attended a couple of events together but it was our first award show together which was so fun!
.
Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? We left from Amsterdam and we actually almost ended up missing our flight! But fortunately enough we made it to cloudy Los Angeles! We only had three hours to land, pass the security, get our suitcases, get to the hotel, get changed and go to the event. Which was stressful, to say the least, but we were both so excited! I did my makeup whilst we were landing in the plane as I knew I would never get the time otherwise. I went for a rose-peachy smokey eye and dark rose matte lips and left my hair loose. My dress came from Dior. I took off a layer of the dress so that all the leg area became transparent (don’t worry I wore shorts under aha). I paired my stunning dress with a belt from Chanel and a bag from Chanel too, and finally to top it all off, Jimmy Choo heels.

Around 3PM we left our hotel and went in a 30-minute car ride to get to the Grammys red carpet! Right before heading in I bumped into Shawn Mendes, which let’s be honest he is very nice to see haha. Then we showed our tickets, passed security and we were on the carpet! It was gigantic and full of A-listers. We walked around for a bit, we looked at the celebs and the photographers and we took some pictures on our phones! Then I quickly ran into non-other than Meghan Trainor!
.
We continued walking around for a bit bumping into everyone in the industry and ended up staying on the red carpet for around 30 Minutes. Then we headed to the exit (of the carpet) and to the right of us, next to the wall the nominees were getting their pictures taken. As soon as we left we walked right past the beautiful host of the night, Alicia Keys! She was wearing a gorgeous red dress. We also saw BTS whilst heading inside the arena where the ceremony was going to take place. We passed security again and got into the huge venue; the Staples Center! It was packed with people and we decided to head for our seats.
.
Around 30 Minutes later the ceremony started. The CEO/President of the Grammy’s came out right before it went live to give a message. Then Alicia Keys came out to introduce the show! Moments later Camila Cabello and Young Thug came out to play “Havana”. She was wearing a beautiful yellow dress and the dancers where all wearing colorful colors, it was so beautiful! Right after that insane performance, Alicia called Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, JLo, and Jada Pickett Smith to the stage for a woman empowerment monologue! I was so happy and grateful to have been there in that crazy moment.

After that Shawn Mendes performed on the small stage in the middle with a piano playing “In My Blood” aka one of my favorite song of his! Then he went back to the main stage where Miley Cyrus arrived and they performed together, which was again absolutely insane!
.
Then non-other than Dolly Parton (who won the Grammy Person of the year) arrived with Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris and Little Big Town! Dolly Parton was announced by Anna Kendrick which made it even cooler. Then H.E.R came to perform her heartfelt song “Hard Place” which was beautiful.
.
Right after that Cardi B lit up the Staples center with her song “Money”. Then Nina Dobrev came to present country singer Kacey Musgraves.

.
Next up was more awards! Shallow won for best duo/group performance and it also won the song written for visual media. Lags Gaga won Pop Solo Performance for Joanne as well. I was so glad “A Star is Born” finally won their highly deserved awards. Shortly after that, the next performer came and I couldn’t wait to find out who it was going to be. We could see staff building a huge metal cage right behind the main stage… It ended up being Travis Scott performing “Stop Trying To Be God”! People came running from the crowd onto the stage, they climbed into the huge cage that was made by the staff and they were dancing. It was insane and there was a lot of energy in the room, to say the least!
.
Then Janelle Monaé came to perform “Make Me Feel”. Her act was incredible and I’ve had this song in my head for the last two days. After that cane the insane host of the night, Alicia Keys. She started her performance by playing on two pianos which were so cool and I’ve never seen anyone do that! She sang a range of classic amazing songs like “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon and “Empire State of Mind” by her and Jay-Z!

.
Then came best rap song and Drake won that award for his song “God’s Plan”. After that came one of the most iconic moments of the night! The legend herself, Diana Ross, came to perform to celebrate her 75th birthday coming his March. The room lit up and I was so grateful to have been there. My brother and I seriously couldn’t believe her age! She’s still performing incredibly well, it was splendid, to say the least.
.
Right after that came the moment I was waiting for the most. Lady Gaga performing “Shallow” from the amazing “A Star is Born” soundtrack. I wasn’t expecting her performance to blow me away as much as it did, well I mean it is Lady Gaga after all. It’s the second time I’ve seen her sing live and I’m always stunned by her! She’s a true star.
.
Next H.E.R. won best R&B Album for “H.E.R.”. Brandi Carlile then performed “The Joke”, she’s officially my new favorite singer haha. No, but honestly like all the other performances of the night “The Joke” was incredible!
.
After that, the Grammy for the best new artist was announced and it went to… Dua Lipa! My brother and I were rooting for her so we were so glad when she won. Jennifer Lopez then arrived and put the stage on fire. Literally. Then Cardi B won for Best Rap Album for “Invasion of Privacy”.

.
During the breaks, we would see performances from past years which was so cool as well! Like Adele, Kesha etc… Even though the artists weren’t there it felt like it with everyone singing along and the huge, huge speakers!
.
As soon as the camera started rolling again the Grammy for the “Song of the Year” was about to be announced. It finally went to Childish Gambino for “This is America”. He also won best music video of the year and record of the year!
.
A few winners and performances later St Vincent and Dua Lipa sang their hit songs “Masseducation” and “One Kiss”.
.
Finally, the Album of the year went to Kacey Musgraves! For her album “Golden Hour”. I don’t personally listen to her a lot but I definitely will from now on!
.
After that, the show beautifully wrapped up and my brother and I headed to the exits as the whole arena was heading out. We walked out of the Staples Center straight into the rain and heavy wind and pretty much the end of the world weather for LA haha. We called an Uber and were on our way to the republic records’ Grammy’s after party (stay tuned for tomorrow’s post about that)!
.
The Grammy’s were so much fun! I’ve never in my life seen that many artists perform at once. It was truly unbelievable and I still can’t believe I got the amazing opportunity to attend with the best plus one ever, my brother.
.
Anyways, what was your favorite performance of the night? I personally loved Brandi Carlile, Janelle Monáe and Lady Gaga (even though they were all truly awesome and unique in their own ways). Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post about the after party!

.
.
Lot’s of LOVE, as always,
.
