DIOR SPRING-SUMMER 2018 READY-TO-WEAR SHOW

Here we go again – Paris Fashion Week! Closing the fashion month and set in the city of lights and love, PFW is definitely one not to miss… especially not the Dior show!!
.
I first arrived in the French capital three days ago in order to attend an exclusive visit of the “Christian Dior, Couturier du Rêve” exhibition. Accompanied by my mother, I explored the exhibition in all of its grandeur… which included a sort of timeline of Dior’s fashion throughout the years. Amongst the previous collections were old dresses, vintage bags and loads of accessories. Separated by colour and set up in several rooms (one of which called Colorama), the exhibition was simply beautiful! Specifically, the last room which only had Dior dresses worn by famous Hollywood actresses on display! It was in that room where (if you watched my Instagram story, you would know that) stars fell from the ceiling like rain, creating a fascinating, heaven-like ambience… splendid right? Well looking back at it now, I can honestly say that out of all the fashion exhibitions that I have been to so far, this one was definitely my favourite.
.
Moving onto day two, I woke up in my hotel and was immediately greeted by a hair & makeup team who were set to prepare me for the main event of my trip and of this post, the Dior Spring-Summer 2018 Ready-To-Wear show. After finishing up with my glam look, I quickly ate lunch and then jumped into a car headed straight to the Musee Rodin! At my arrival, I was first introduced to the stunning Canadian model Winnie Harlow and the famous blogger, Camila Coelho, who were both surprisingly very funny, and then I made my way into the building in order for the show to commence. Once inside, I immediately fell in love with the decoration and set-up of the space. From the mirrors on the floor to the bendy, sparkling walls, the decor simply threw me into a futuristic parallel-universe!
.
Then, suddenly, the show started. With trendy music and modern Parisian styled looks, I have thoroughly blown away. The first look felt very classically French yet twisted and then shortly after that, four looks arrived drenched in all-black outfits with discrete white detailing – although neither was my style, I loved the contrast! Also, a piece that I really adored (from the 14th look) was an oversized, black and white striped sweater that had a green dragon with the words ”Niki de Saint Phalle” written in red above it. The reference to Saint Phalle on this chic sweater comes from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s love of her photography! Moving on, I also really liked the bags in this collection but although very cute, they were definitely not what one would traditionally expect from the Dior House… They were all in different shapes and sizes with numerous colourful straps (I specifically adored this electric-blue one)! Other than that, I really admired the checkerboard print looks and thought that the polka dot playsuit was sweet! Also, I loved the little white flashy dress that looked like an extra large t-shirt and the use of lace, silk, leather and plastic in all the looks… To continue, I also adored look 74 with a glowing silver dress accompanied by a black bag with silver flower detailing! My favourite overall look has to number 26 with the black leather dress that opens in the front, paired with a hat, necklaces, knee-high socks and boots… simply perfection. After that came yet again more dresses in more transparent materials and more bodysuits with skirts!! From yellow shades to spider sweaters to gold silky suits to five glittery rainbow dresses… This collection was insane! Closing the show was one of Dior’s iconic model muses: Ruth Bell, who wore the yellow, 5th and last rainbow dress.
.
Overall, the show was simply a revolution for DiorChiuri’s take on the house is unlike any of the creative directors before her and she honestly did a fantastic job! Although she threw every traditional style of Dior out the window, she still made some pretty damn beautiful looks with intense glitter and a lot of colour! Job well done and applause well deserved.

  1. Wow! I recently found your blog, and I love it, I will stay here! I can’t believe you met Chiara Ferragni and you went to Dior’s fashion show, I hope one day I can attend one!! I would love a post like this but of the Chanel show you are attending next week. I love all the looks of the photos, and the tulle dress that you are wearing in one of the photos is perfection.
