Hey guys! Hope everyone is having a great day!
For today’s post, I really want to share with you all some of my most anticipated movies for this summer. The only two movie that I have seen so far from the following list is ‘Wonder’ and evidently ‘Incredibles 2’. The list is based on reviews which I read about each movie and then my very own personal opinions. Once I’ve seen all of them, I’ll make sure to write individual reviews for each film! This year, in particular, was hugely successful in movie releases, from the biggest superhero movie of all time, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ to a new Star Wars film; 2018 has been a fantastic cinematic year! Plus with all the very new movies that just came out such as ‘Ocean’s 8’ and ‘Love, Simon’ (read my review about it HERE), this list was so difficult to narrow down! Anyways, let’s get on to the post, so without further ado, here is my recommended movie-watching list for this summer, enjoy!

The Incredibles 2

Starting off with probably my favorite movie on this list, here’s a sequel that remains very close to heart. In 2004, Disney released the original and highly-celebrated movie, ‘The Incredibles’. It quickly became everyone’s favorite and definitely became mine – this film holds a huge place in both my childhood and like I said before, my heart! Upon discovering that number 2 was to be created, I grew very excited and overwhelmed with joy, so pretty much as soon as I had the opportunity to go and see it, I did. Let me tell you now, I’ve honestly never been more impressed with a sequel – so many times before, I’ve only loved the original… but no, 14 years after their brilliant success was launched, a new masterpiece was released! I loved this film because not only did it stay close to the action vibe and comical mood of the first movie, but it also kept a very similar and therefore authentic cast. Members such as Samuel L. Jackson and Brad Bird continued to enhance the plot with their amazing voice-overs! Having seen the film now, I can also confirm that it is definitely long enough to keep you engaged for a while – it’s full of adventure and excitement, I couldn’t have been more attentive! Definitely, worth the 14-year wait, I suggest you go and see this movie ASAP. Grab a couple of friends or even your entire family and head out to the cinema! Watch your favorite “family” try and navigate the heroics of “normal” life, specifically with the struggle of including Jack-Jack: a remarkably entertaining and adorable baby, who happens to have laser vision! Honestly, I would rate the film a 9.5/10; although IMDb only gave it 8.3/10, I believe that both Disney, Pixar, and director Brad Bird managed to successfully engulf me, a seventeen-year-old, into my six-year-old-self! The movie exceeded my expectations and left me in love with Helen, laughing at Bob, relating to Violet, amazed by Dash and of course, obsessed with Jack-Jack! I mean, they’re all, quite genuinely, incredible – and so is this film!
Incredibles 2

Moving on, ‘Wonder’ is also a brilliant family movie to watch this summer. I’ve seen it twice already and can honestly say that I’m still not over it! It’s an inspiring and heartwarming story that wonderfully tells the tale of a handicapped boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade in a mainstream school. The story is based on the bestselling novel with the same name and was directed by Stephen Chbosky. The main character with the facial deformities is called August and played by the brilliant eleven-year-old actor, Jacob Tremblay. Although the film was released in late 2017, I still think you should watch it this summer as I believe that it didn’t get the popularity it deserved. It’s a beautiful and personally, tear-jerking story about not only a disabled child, but about those who surround him, and their individual struggles to cope alongside him. The film also recently came out in DVD and on the apple store, so use that platform to watch it this summer with friends and family – use the movie to remember that films should not always be mere entertainment and that sometimes, you should learn a thing or two from them! Enjoy a stunning Julia Roberts playing August’s mother and a strangely solemn (I’m so used to seeing him in comedic roles) Owen Wilson, as August’s dad. Finally, in the movie, you will also have the opportunity of being formally introduced to Izabela Vidovic, a new, seventeen-year-old actress playing the role of the big sister. Overall, the cast is amazing and I’m sure, so so so sure, that every person watching the film will be able to relate to at least one character.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

As 2018 has been a fantastic year for Marvel movies, I couldn’t help but add this one to the list. 2015’s Ant-Man, played by Paul Rudd, is back, and this time, he’s paired up with the Wasp, played by the beautiful Evangeline Lilly. I truly can’t wait to see what this movie has prepared for us! I’ll make sure to write a full review of this one as soon as I see it! Although I doubt you’ll find many people who say Ant-Man is their favorite Marvel superhero, the two actors combined for one big blockbuster is going to be insane, regardless of their popularity precedent. From what I’ve heard so far, this fantasy/science fiction film tackles the complications of being both a superhero and a father. Although not all males can relate to that situation, I believe that anyone who has a job which may hinder their abilities to spend time with their family could relate to this film. Directed by Peyton Reed and around 2 hours long, this film will definitely make for great entertainment this summer! I mean who doesn’t love watching a human-insects fight?

Deadpool 2

I’ve heard countless and I mean countless positive remarks and feedback from friends about this movie… and, it received an 8.1/10 from IMDb. I loved the first Deadpool movie and honestly, I cannot wait to go and see the sequel. Everyone is talking about it, and now I just want to see it for myself! From the looks of it, we are all in for the perfect fantasy/science-fiction film for this summer! Watch Ryan Reynolds (again) and the stunning Zazie Beetz as they collectively run the stage. This film involves genetically enhanced soldiers, antagonists and lots of really fit men. Directed by David Leitch, this movie was released on the 16th of May and I am probably going to be watching it next week. Trust me, you should too!

Finally, the last movie on my list of films you should watch this summer is the stunning ‘Skyscraper’. Changing things up with a drama/crime film, Skyscraper is THE movie to go watch if that is more your genre (like me!). Starring Dwayne Johnson as the lead how could anything go wrong? He’s amazing, the director Rawson M. Thurber is insane and Neve Campbell who plays Dwayne’s wife, is also stunning. I’m going to see this film as soon as I have a spare minute. Filled with veterans and FBI agents, this film is sure to be one for a great evening out with friends! I cannot wait. This movie came out on the 12th of July in the UK so should be coming near you very soon! Enjoy!
There you go, guys! I hope there’s at least one movie that you’re looking forward to seeing now! If not, which of the above is your favorite? Have you seen them all? Make sure to let me know down in the comments section below if you’ve seen any of these movies and if you potentially disliked one of them!
As always, lots of LOVE,
